Night at the Movies

Have you ever been at a movie and then just when you are about to see how it ends the screen moves up and down like the slide is stuck and then it stops and everyone in the slide turns orange and the slide appears to be melting? Happened to me tonight. We went to see Reign over me and just at the ending the slide appeared to melt before our eyes. One of the ladies got up to go tell someone and slowly we all cleared out of the theatre. We waited for the manager to come back. He then told us that the slide did not melt, it stretched alot. He also told us he would not be able to fix it tonight. So they gave us free movie tickets. I'm not going to complain. My dad will probably buy the movie the days it comes out on video and then we can see the end and use the tickets to go to another movie. Everyone in the theatre was laughing anyways, it was just REALLY bazare.

On another note: I have started working at South Edmonton Alliance Church... It is good and I think I will really like it, but I am not gonna lie, right now I feel a little lost. I need to figure things out and figure out who's who and then I am sure it will be all good.

One more note: For those of you that don't know, It looks like December in the West Edmonton Mall.. They are filming some kind of movie in there. Trev and I went the other day and there was a sign that said if we past that point we were consenting to their photography of us... of course I was wearing capris and a tank top - not exactly Christmas apparel. Deb and I noticed today that some of the stores have signs in them that say holiday sale and the displays have scarfs and such, but then you look in the door way and there is a display of tanks and tees for sale. Or there will be Christmas decorations in the store window and then a sign that says spring and summer sale. We were walking by where they were filming and they told us we weren't allowed to stop. It was quite interesting... The End

So I guess I have found facebook and neglected my blog. In the event that there are still people reading, I feel it is fair to inform you that I am suffering on the beach of the UAE. It is so hot here. I have to do things like go swimming with youth and look at jellyfish and crabs and eat at buffets with a million choices. It is really a rough life. I know no one else would want to suffer such things as getting a tan (ok, maybe a burn) while laying on a beautiful beach. But I am here doing just that.

Really, the youth I am in charge of are a great group and we have had some good converstion outside of the swimming and kayaking that has happened. We even watched some hockey.. I am not used to be with so many Canadians overseas - most of the people I worked with in Guinea were American.

Anyways, I am going to get back to camels, deserts, crabs, and mangoes. Just thought you might want to know I am alive.

Possible news??

Sooooo I can't remember what I have said and what I haven't and I didn't feel like going back through my blogs to see what info was in there... sooo if I have given this info already you can read it twice and if not, let me update you on what will be my life in the upcoming months....

So, incase I really haven't been saying much, I am going to the United Arab Emirates in May to see and work for some international workers there for a few day. Then I get to stop in Ontario on the way back and see a bunch of beautiful, fun, and awesome people and go to Rebecca's wedding. I am really excited about all of this... I am especially excited because by the time I reach that point it will mean that I have graduated and no longer have to do these ridiculous papers!

The second thing is that I have a part time job in Children's Ministry at South Edmonton Alliance. I start there on June 1st. It's Chinese..... Im not.... I think it will be a lot of fun. I will be working with Mike Magnus who some of you might know. Joe Chan is at the North Edmonton Church and apparently these churches often work with eachother... it should be good times. I just need to find a second job, a place to live, and perhaps a roommate...

That's about all... Thanks for tuning in.

Ouch

So, today was an interesting day off. Last time my tooth started hurting and I had to go get Orajel hoping that would help me to sleep. I slept a little bit during the night, but not much. I looked at myself in the mirror when I woke up and saw that not only was their discomfort in my mouth, it must have swelled up. I look like I have hiding a gumball away in one cheek. It is kinda ridiculous but was enough to make me laugh even when I was in pain. The dentist says to call him at home on times like these when the office isn't open. I didn't want to disturb him, and did have an appointment set for tomorrow, but I figured I should atleast make sure it will be ok until tomorrow. So I called and he told me to meet him at his office at 11:00. But my mom and Barry were coming to see me today. So I Called and told my mom and I left for the dentist. He ended up giving me a prescription and said see ya tomorrow morning. Then I went for lunch with my mom and Barry and that was a bit of a gong show. I ordered a cup of soup and by the time we left it didn't really look like I had eaten any. (I did eat a few spoons of it - but I had to ask for a teaspoon) and I couldn't eat the crackers, I ate a quarter of one and then decided it just wasn't worth it. I drank the gingerale though.
I came home took the antibiotics, visited for a bit, and then went to bed when they left and slept for four hours. So much for having a productive day.... and I still look like a squarrel with little nuts in my cheeks.. I hate teeth.
